Advertorial

In case you are reading about AirStMaarten's private charters program for the first time, here is some background information on our shared charters.

WHAT ARE SHARED CHARTERS?
A Shared Charter is when you book a Private Charter and you Only Pay for the Seat You Occupy. Not for the whole aircraft. AirStMaarten has been successfully organizing shared charters to St. Barths since November 2006.

HOW OUR SHARED CHARTERS WORK
Travel Agents and clients book our shared charters for seamless connections and hassle-free transfers to St. Barths and surrounding islands such as Anguilla, St. Kitts, Nevis, St. Eustatius, Antigua and Tortola.

HERE IS HOW OUR SHARED CHARTERS WORK...
1) If 1 or 2 people request to share a private charter, the shared charter is scheduled.
2) Once 3 or 4 people book the shared charter, the shared charter is confirmed and you are good to go!

If the shared charter is not confirmed, passengers are booked on a regular commercial flight with complimentary VIP Services to ensure their transit is smooth and hassle-free.

Visit www.sharedcharters.com for more information, scheduling and availabilities.

3. ARTICLE: "Share A Charter To St. Vincent & The Grenadines In 2016"

A personal recommendation
By Terrance Rey

As the management of AirStMaarten is reviewing new destinations for the AirSXM Shared Charters program, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about St. Vincent and The Grenadine islands of Bequia, Mustigue, Canouan and Union Island.

At the end of May 2015 I had the pleasure of paying St. Vincent a short visit for several business meetings. St. Vincent and The Grenadines are situated between St. Lucia (to the north), Grenada (to the south) and Barbados (to the east). Discussions proved that St. Vincent & The Grenadines is ripe for implementing and executing a shared charters program between St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Vincent, Bequia, Mustigue, Canouan and Union Island in 2016. Below are profiles of these islands.

St. Vincent
St. Vincent with its 133 square miles and a population of over 97638 is the largest island and the centre of Government for the SVG. The capital is Kingstown and is located on the south-west coast of St. Vincent and the official language is English.

Bequia
Bequia is the largest of the Grenadines (18 square miles or 7 sq. km) and is a hub for yachting and diving. Several undersea wrecks and shallow caves provide an engaging landscape for advanced divers, who can see beautiful creatures like hawksbill turtles, lobsters, moray eels and a host of fish. Every year, yachts converge on Admiralty Bay for the Bequia Easter Regatta, the largest regatta in the southern Caribbean. The quaint waterfront capital is called Port Elizabeth and it is lined with bars, restaurants and craft shops. Accommodations vary from luxurious resort cottages to small, simple West Indian inns. Much of the nightlife centers on the hotel resorts and beachside barbecue parties.

Mustique
Mustique is a small private island that has built a reputation for being a home away from home for the stars. The list of celebrity residents and guests include Bill Gates, Mick Jagger, David Bowie and even Queen Elizabeth II. Naturally, entertaining such famed visitors has led to the development of excellent shopping, dining and entertainment facilities that all visitors can enjoy. In late
January to early February the Mustique Blues Festival is held. Fun fact: The island of Mustique with its capital called Lovell is owned and operated by the Mustique Company. A company runs the island. How cool is that?

Canouan
Canouan is both a luxurious and elegant tourist destination and a simple, natural unspoiled island. It is home to the world class Canouan Resort and the Trump International Golf Club, and is blessed with one of the Caribbean’s longest barrier reefs. It is a top destination for golfing, cruising, weddings and relaxation. The name Canouan comes from the indigenous Caribbean word "cannouan", which means "turtle" or "turtle island". Once a French sugar colony, the island rose to international prominence as a tourist destination when it became home to Raffles Resorts and Hotels. The Raffles Resort was recently purchased by Sandy Lane, who carried out a US$100 million dollar upgrade to the hotel, renaming it Canouan Resort. The capital of the island is called Charlestown.

Union Island
Union Island is located on the southern end of the Grenadines chain of islands. Home to some 3000 inhabitants and approximately three miles long, it is the commercial centre for the southern Grenadines and an important stop for yachts. The main centre is the bustling village of Clifton, where you will find small hotels, boutiques and a wonderful open-air, brightly coloured, fresh produce market. The main airport serving the southern Grenadines is here, as is the harbour where most of the day charters pick up and drop off guests. Union Island is also renowned for its local rum concoctions and famous lobster and conch dishes. Live lobsters can be purchased from local vendors at Clifton harbour.

Other island is the chain of Grenadines islands is Mayreau, Palm Island, the Tobago Cays and Petit St. Vincent.

SVG'S ARGYLE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT CONSTRUCTION ONGOING

St. Vincent Argyle International Airport under Construction

St. Vincent --
While on a business trip in St. Vincent, the CEO and Managing Director of AirStMaarten was given a tour of the construction site of the newly constructed Argyle International Airport in St. Vincent. The construction work at the airport is scheduled to be completed in 2016.

St. Vincent Argyle International Airport Runway Construction

Crews and workmen from Taiwan, Venezuela and Cuba are said to be working day and night to get the airport runway completed on time for the scheduled completion of the construction works. The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) hopes to have the airport operational in 2016.

SVG E.T. Joshua Airport in Arnos Vale, St. Vincent

Contrary to the present E.T. Joshua Airport (SVG) in Arnos Vale, St. Vincent, the new Argyle International Airport will accommodate direct flights from Northamerica (the USA and Canada), Europe and South America, thereby creating a significant hub function for the Grenadines and the southern islands.

With this development in view, the management of AirStMaarten is looking to create a new hub for its shared charters program in order to accommodate the expected increase in demand for the sharing of private air charter flights between the islands of St. Vincent, Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Union Island, Barbados, St. Lucia and Grenada.
